Kings kicked of their season with an away trip to Warwickshire Bears 2 in the Division 3 South and West. The game saw Vickie and Greg making their competitive debut for the Kings.
Kings won tip off, however bears were first to score. Peter got the scoring under-way for the Kings followed by a great first quarter of end to end basketball with Reece and Joe adding to the point tally. Vickie scored her first points of the game to draw the score 10 all. The first quarter finished 14 - 12 to Bears.
A tough second quarter saw Bears pull away as the Kings shots just did not want to drop into the net. The Kings were further troubled due to one of their players needing first aid attention due to a head injury after falling out. As the teams went to the bench for half time the score was Bears 29 Kings 16.
Captain Wayne lead the team back out onto the court determined to keep up the pace and narrow the gap between Kings and Bears. Kings were defending well and Bears only managed to score 4 points in the whole 3rd quarter and missed several key free throws. Joe added to teams tally after sub staining an injury before the half time buzzer with 3 points, Kings almost breaking even with the scoring in this quarter.
With the Final score of Kings 29 - Bears 45, Kings produced a better opening day result then they did last season and showed great promise for the season ahead.
